Event Specialist (Exclusive for La Nube employees)

Job Type: Part-Time; Hourly; Non-exempt
Salary Range: $15.05 - $16.00 / hr
Schedule: up to 15 hours per week to include weeknights and weekend availability

About the Role
The EPC Museum dba La Nube is seeking a service-minded individual with a strong understanding of customer and event service standards to deliver exceptional guest experiences. We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional Event team members to help create an engaging and welcoming experience at our STEAM Discovery Center events. As an Event Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring that guests, including families, students, businesses, private stakeholders, and educators, have a seamless and enriching experience. You’ll help facilitate events, maintain a fun and professional atmosphere, and provide outstanding hospitality. Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to dynamic environments.
- Passion for STEAM education and a guest-centered approach.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask during busy events.
- Prior experience in hospitality, events, museums, or education is a plus.
- Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish and English is a plus.
Essential Functions:
- Focus on creating a welcoming environment where guests feel valued.
- Offer assistance with a smile, while giving them space to enjoy the event.
- Always be attentive and proactive in identifying guest needs.
- Review guest service standards regularly to ensure responsiveness to varying guest needs and comfort.
- Keep the energy and atmosphere aligned with the event’s tone.
- Move thoughtfully and avoid unnecessary noise or distractions.
- Enjoy the event with guests by staying in areas designated for staff, and keep conversations professional to enhance the experience for all. Understand and anticipate event-specific ambiance and atmosphere to keep the event flowing smoothly.
- Handle unexpected situations with a calm, problem-solving attitude.
- Always approach challenges with patience and focus on the best solution.
- Practice stress management techniques to remain composed in high-energy or demanding situations.
- Be mindful of guests’ personal space, offering assistance in ways that make them feel comfortable and respected.
- Learn the basics of body language and non-verbal cues to gauge when to approach and when to give guests room.
- Provide backup assistance to other team members to ensure continuity of services.
- Actively practice OSHA and La Nube’s health and safety protocols.
- Schedule and availability reflect the organization is a 7-day-a week operation.
- Attends all necessary meetings both departmentally and organizationally, as applicable.
- VIPs deserve exceptional care and privacy. Handle sensitive situations with utmost discretion, and always maintain confidentiality.
- Avoid taking photos or engaging in behavior that may intrude on their experience.
- Specific VIP protocols will be covered, ensuring you’re comfortable handling special guest needs in accordance with hospitality standards.
- Be proactive about keeping the event space clean and orderly. Take care of clutter before it becomes noticeable, helping to ensure a smooth and polished event.
- Maintain attention to detail in creating a visually appealing space that aligns with event expectations.
- Familiarize yourself with the event’s schedule, venue layout, and emergency procedures. Being prepared ensures you can seamlessly support event flow and assist guests effectively.
- Participate in event briefings to ensure clarity on the day’s schedule, potential issues, and special requirements.
- Remain focused on your responsibilities by limiting personal phone use to job-related tasks only.
- Stay engaged and attentive to the event’s flow to offer the best service possible.
- Set expectations around digital distractions so that staff remains connected and responsive during their shift.
- Keep an active presence in your assigned area unless instructed to assist elsewhere. This ensures smooth coordination and a heightened ability to respond quickly to guest needs.
- Learning about the event layout and flow will help you anticipate where you’ll be most needed throughout the day.
- Always maintain a professional appearance. Avoid consuming event food or drinks during your shift, except for water, to preserve your image as a representative of the event.
- Guidance on professional appearance, attire, and behavior will be part of your training to ensure you always present the best version of yourself.
- Adhere to all safety protocols to guarantee the safety of guests, colleagues, and vendors.
- Abstain from consuming alcohol during the event and remain alert to respond to any safety concerns.
- Safety drills and protocols will be reviewed regularly to ensure staff can respond efficiently to any emergency.
- A friendly smile and positive energy go a long way in enhancing the event experience for guests. Remain approachable and cheerful to help elevate the atmosphere.
- Training on guest interaction will emphasize the importance of positivity and how it directly impacts the overall guest experience.

Physical Demands/Occupational Hazards
This position is highly active. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Observe and react to the needs of guests, team members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Move throughout La Nube.
- Manipulate, lift and/or move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Frequent bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching.
- Frequent need to carry, lift or move objects.
- Communicate and respond to safety hazards.
- Occasional work in outdoor elements (may consist of harsh heat or cold).
- Occasional walking on uneven surfaces.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals used in artist materials.
- Occasional exposure to leaning edges and glass barriers.
