Custodial Technician
Reporting to: VP of Facilities & Exhibits
Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt; hourly
Salary Range: $15.75 p/hr
Schedule: Up to 29.99 hours per week
Location: La Nube

Responsibilities
La Nube is looking for a passionate type – A personality who can assist in the tracking of inventory, hours worked and quality of work. The ideal person for this position will be able to maintain an existing system that can tell us exactly what we have, where it is, and when we need to order new items to maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene within our STEAM Center. This person will maintain communication and operations between the Custodial team, Guest Experience, Events team and Facilities and Exhibits teams within our organization. We need someone we can trust to have an issue taken care of in an adequate and timely manner with a quality of work that exceeds standards.
Job Requirements
This job is for you if you are/ have…
- A High School or GED graduate.
- One (1) year experience in custodial services.
- The ability to work irregular hours as necessary including off hours, holidays, weekends, and evenings/early mornings.
- Some knowledge of basic budgeting practices in relation to managing department fund allocations.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic technical skills.

Essential Functions
- Work alongside the cleaning crew to complete tasks.
- Utilize a radio to communicate with employees throughout the STEAM Center.
- Utilize tools and materials to assist in the cleanliness, aesthetics, and improvement of the facility, i.e. painting.
- Manage and participate in the cleaning and sanitization of exhibits and the general building daily.
- Work alongside team members and guests while maintaining harmonious workplace relationships.
- Verify hours of work.
- Track consumables and inventory.
- Work with VP of Facilities and Exhibits and Purchasing to order supplies and maintain stock of items to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth operations.
- Fill out work orders.
- Some research of sanitation methods for different materials.
- Assist the VP of Facilities and Exhibits in maintaining a high level of operations and performance within the cleaning and custodial team.
- Maintain quality of work being performed in conjunction with the building custodial staff.
- Provide backup assistance to other team members to ensure continuity of services surrounding cleaning.
- Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing in the English language.
- Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing in the Spanish language is preferred but not required.
- Download a copy of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) upon purchase or arrival of new chemicals and solvents.
- Maintain existing log and/or binder of chemical lists and (SDS).
- Properly dilute chemical mixes, agents, and solvents to be utilized throughout the building.
- Continuously contribute to process improvement and innovation.
Physical Demands/Occupational Hazards
This position is highly active. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Observe and react to the needs of guests, team members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Frequent movement throughout the STEAM Center.
- Manipulate, lift and/or move materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching, overhead reaching.
- Communicate regarding safety hazards.
- Exposure to solvents and chemicals.
- Frequent work around dirt, dust, loud noises and odors.
- Occasional work in outdoor elements (may consist of harsh heat or cold).
- Occasional walking on uneven surfaces.
- Occasional exposure to leaning edges and glass barriers.
- Observe State and Federal OSHA safety standards.
